      Retina Health

Where is the retina located in the eye?

Retina, located at the back of the eye, is a layer of nerve tissue that receives images and sends them as electric signals through the optic nerve to the brain.

Common retina problems that we treat

      • Diabetic retinopathy: involves growth of abnormal blood vessels in retina, can cause vision loss if not treated
      • Macular degeneration: also known as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), result of aging, can cause blurriness or blind spot
      • Retinal tears: accompanies sudden symptoms as floaters and flashing lights
      • Retinal detachments: cause retina to lift away from underlying tissue
      • Floaters: floating spots, strands, cobwebs that move across your vision, sudden increase of floaters can signal potential retinal issue

      • Focal Laser: to stop reduce swelling
      • PRP Laser: to prevent new abnormal blood vessels from growing

Schedule an appointment to discuss your vision health

Getting a comprehensive dilated eye exam at least once a year is essential if you have diabetes, as early identification can stop damage and prevent blindness. Seek immediate medical attention if you see flashes or too many floaters; it may be a warning sign of potential retinal problems.
